Student Residence or Host Family Accommodation
Newbury Hall Residence
Our brand new hotel-style residence offers clean, smart, comfortable rooms with private shower and WC.
Small details such as Egyptian cotton sheets, original photo art and complimentary toiletries make this a far superior experience to the general run of student Accommodation.
Catering is provided in-house by a professional chef working with top quality fresh ingredients, and a varying menu of international dishes. A continental breakfast and a hot lunch and supper are provided 7 days per week, and a late-night snack of hot milk and biscuits is available.
The Newbury Hall residence is the perfect choice for a student who likes living in a social setting with other students while enjoying the privacy of their own space and the support of our caring staff..
The residence is supervised at all times
by a full-time member of staff, who is trained and experienced in dealing with all day-to-day matters, from homesickness to sore throats. In emergencies expert medical help is available from the team of doctors at the nearby Eastfield Medical Centre.
Supervision is close but inconspicuous, so that the students are kept safe at all times without being made to feel unnecessarily restricted. Students are expected to obey the school rules and safety standards, and to co-operate with staff and other students in order to live in harmony in our learning community. All our staff are cleared with the police and the Criminal Records Bureau at the highest levels.
Host Family Accommodation
Most of our host families have been with us for years.
They include police officers, teachers, engineers, office workers and many other professions, as well as retired people. They are all good natured, reliable, and friendly people who enjoy having students in their homes. They live in a circle of about 12 miles (19 kilometres) of the school, with most of them within 7 miles (11 kilometres). In many cases the family is able to drop the student at the school in the morning and collect him or her in the evening. This is always the case when the student is very young (under 15), or with those families who live furthest from the school, or if there is not a good service by public transport.
Families provide a comfortable room, laundry, breakfast, a packed lunch, and a hot supper for the student, as well as bringing them into the family circle for conversation. Many families go much further than this, and involve the student in their own family activities at the weekends. In some cases students and families have become firm friends over many years, and sometimes the host families have even visited the student's real family in their home country.
Whenever we add a new family we follow a careful selection process.
We visit them in their homes, take up references, and after police and Criminal Records Bureau checks have been carried out, we welcome them to the family of Newbury Hall.
For students who enjoy family life, the host family option is an excellent choice, providing an ideal introduction to English life and culture.
