St Bartholomew’s Campus

One of the unique features of Newbury Hall is its links with St Bartholomew’s Sixth form College. Newbury Hall students are permitted, as soon as their language level permits it, to study some of their subjects at St. Bartholomew’s. This has the great advantage that they are able to study with English students. This means that they have English conversation in lessons, in break-time, and at home – 100% total immersion!

In order to ensure that the students make good progress, if they are following courses at St. Bartholomew’s, we always offer additional tuition at Newbury Hall to ensure that they can keep up with if not exceed  the achievements of their English classmates.

One special feature of the relationship between St. Bartholomew’s School and Newbury Hall is the mentoring system. Every student who studies at St. Bartholomew’s School is allocated a British student as mentor, to help him or her to find their way around the campus and  discover what is on offer.

St. Bartholomew's School was founded in 1466 and is proud of its ancient tradition. It is now an 11-18 Comprehensive School of 1630 students with a Sixth Form of 400 serving Newbury, a wide area of West Berkshire and the Hampshire/Wiltshire borders.

The school is academically successful. Each year there will be 10+ Oxbridge candidates with many obtaining places. In 2003, 73% of year 11 obtained 5 or more A*- C grades.

In September 2002 the school was designated a Business & Enterprise College, specialist school status. This is proving to be an exciting and creative period in the school's development.

The school is housed on two attractive sites which are only approximately 200 metres apart on the south side of Newbury.

A message from the Principal of St Bartholomew’s

Personal Message from Mr Graham Davis, Head of Sixth Form at St Bartholomew’s School, Newbury.

“St Bartholomew’s is a top performing school with excellent results. The quality and range of our courses for post-16 students is outstanding. Every year many students achieve A grades in all their subjects and go on to study at prestigious universities, including Oxford and Cambridge. Overall more than 80% of students go on to study at university, a reflection of the hard work and effort they put into their studies.

Students also have access to a wide range of extra-curricular activities in sport, music, drama, debating and business.

We are proud of our link with Newbury Hall. We warmly welcome students from Newbury Hall who integrate well with our own sixth formers. Diligence and thorough application to study is rewarded with high grades, and the best students work well with tutors at Newbury Hall to enhance and develop further what they have studied at St Bartholomew’s. The international dimension that their presence brings to St Bartholomew’s is a great asset to the school.

Please see our website, www.stbarts.co.uk, for further information about the school”
