Newbury
Newbury is a lively, prosperous market town in the south of England. Although it has lots of history, it is also a thriving modern commercial centre with many points of interest, excellent transprot links and a high standard of living.
Newbury is at the at the centre of Southern England, less than one hour's drive from Central London, and 35 minutes from Oxford and Heathrow Airport
The centre of the town is very attractive, with ancient buildings and bridges over the canal and the river Kennet, and at the centre a cobbled pedestrian precinct which is a delight to wander around.
Newbury has a lovely town centre, with many excellent shops, cafes, library and theatre and a brand new multi-screen cinema
Newbury and Thatcham together have about 100,000 people. There are some very big companies with their headquarters in Newbury - Vodafone has its World headquarters, and Siemens and Bayer have their UK headquarters here.
Newbury is an ideal town for overseas students for a number of reasons - it is small enough to get around easily: it is safe, clean and friendly and yet big enough and lively enough to be interesting. Our students soon start to make friends in the local community and to get involved in English life.
Extra-curricular activities
The study programme is the primary reason for choosing Newbury Hall. However ,while pupils are encouraged to concentrate on learning, we also offer recreational activities built around the academic programme without allowing these activities to interfere with study.
The following activities are offered on Wednesday afternoons supervised and coached as appropriate;
Sport; basketball, badminton and gym
Cultural activities; art, music and drama
Wednesday social evening; all students are encouraged to come and make the most of this opportunity to relax with friends, watch a movie and play games.
Out of school activities: field trips for Geography and Business Studies, fortnightly excursion on Saturdays to a major town or city with a guided tour.
